⛵️ 11 years after its last expedition to Antarctica, scientists aboard the schooner Tara studied in the Weddell Sea, the influence of the melting ice on the Ocean and the microbiome.

🔬An iceberg named “Tasmania” measuring 22 m high and with a surface area of 0.6 km² was sampled. Scientists are looking to quantify the elements released by the iceberg into the Ocean, such as iron. This is an essential element for the development of phytoplankton, but it is present in very small quantities in the ocean.

Live the scientific adventure and discover the sampling technique under an iceberg on Tara in this video. Have a nice trip 🌏
